MOVIES AND MUSICALS WITH AEDÍN GORMLEY

Baz Luhrmann is turning up the volume on Elvis Presley's story once again. The director behind Elvis is back at the Toronto Film Festival taking an even deeper dive into the life and music of the King of Rock and Roll with EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert featuring unreleased footage of Elvis talking about his life and his music. Aedín will look back at three of the director's films this afternoon, Elvis, Moulin Rouge and Romeo and Juliet. Plus, with the release of Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, a first listen to that soundtrack and the scores for Gosford Park and The Remains of the Day.

OPERA NIGHT WITH PAUL HERRIOTT

Paul Herriott brings us Irish National Opera's gala evening of powerful and emotional operatic masterpieces in a captivating concert live from the National Concert Hall, featuring the exceptional talents of soprano Sinéad Campbell Wallace, tenor Ryan Capozzo and baritone Yngve Søberg, joined by the Irish National Opera Orchestra conducted by the dynamic Keri-Lynn Wilson. Paul brings us through the operatic landscapes of Verdi and Wagner, beginning with Verdi's electrifying Overture to La forza del destino and continuing with Wagner's tragic and gripping 'Funeral Music of Siegfried' in Götterdämmerung.

Whether it's troubadour music woven into prog-rock, Hildegard layered onto electronica, or passacaglias meet blues and jazz, today's Vox Nostra will serve up those original works that inspired 20th and 21st century remakes.
