AMBIENT ORBIT
Ambient Orbit broadcasts live from Eyeries on the Beara Peninsula with a special summer solstice broadcast with musicians David Kitt, Elaine Malone and Clara Webster responding to environmental field recordings from the site of An Cailleach Beara, translated as The Hag of Beara who is said to be represented in the form of a rock when she was frozen in time while looking out to sea. This broadcast explores the complex myth of An Cailleach Beara: one of the most ancient of mythological beings in Ireland.
At 9pm Vlad Smishkewych brings us through an hour of atmospheric music which relates to themes of ancient myth and light in celebration of the summer solstice.

VOX NOSTRA WITH VLAD SMISHKEWYCH
This Sunday on Vox Nostra, we explore the music and legacy of Pablo Bruna, who was born in the town of Daroca in Zaragoza, Spain on this day in 1611. A brush with smallpox in his infancy left him blind, which might have influenced his training as a musician. His virtuosity at the organ, in particular, led him to become organist of his hometown church at the age of 20, and choirmaster shortly thereafter. Part of his legacy includes not only his output of organ music, but also centuries after his death the inspiration he provided for founding one of Spain's longest-running early music festivals. Nearly 50-years strong, the Daroca Festival of Early Music includes concerts and workshops that have brought a millennium of music and more to this sun-kissed corner of Spain. Vlad explores some of the ensembles and concerts that have visited the festival in past years, and in recognition of the contribution of Bruna and many other musicians with disabilities, he celebrates the richness of the voices offered by an often-underrepresented and hidden community.

THE LYRIC FEATURE
Wild
Long ago, the first people who arrived in Ireland were met with rich primeval woodlands, where they lived the life of hunter gatherers, reliant only on the seasonal offerings of nature. In the intervening millennia, our wild landscapes have been shaped by successive waves of colonists, each with a different set of values and a capability to change the environment around them to match their changing needs. WILD documents this journey through time, reaching into the future, where our relationship with nature might be rekindled and some of our landscapes might become wild again. Join ecologist Anja Murray on a journey through time, exploring the ever changing relationship between people and nature in Ireland.
