OPERA NIGHT WITH PAUL HERRIOTT
The Metropolitan Opera New York presents Kevin Puts' The Hours
Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Kevin Puts's hit new opera, which played to sold-out audiences during its world-premiere production last season, triumphantly returns. The original trio of legendary divas, sopranos Renée Fleming and Kelli O'Hara and mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato, reprise their celebrated portrayals of three women from different eras whose lives are connected through Virginia Woolf's novel Mrs. Dalloway. Bass-baritone Kyle Ketelsen also returns as the dying author Richard, and Kensho Watanabe conducts this heart-wrenching drama, adapted from Michael Cunningham's acclaimed novel and the Oscar-winning film it inspired.

THE LYRIC FEATURE
Feather and Flock
Feather and Flock is a new six part series delving in to the ways of six iconic native Irish birds. Each episode combines ecology, folklore and history to uncover the incredible lives and journeys of these wild creatures. A key theme is conservation and we hear from those who are at the forefront in ensuring that these birds songs will continue into the future. Each programme is soundtracked with immersive on location recordings, avian themed folk and traditional music and an original composition from Brían MacGloinn.
Episode 3: Lapwing
Lapwing is considered by many to be Ireland's national bird, a much-loved inhabitant of rough fields and wet pastures right across the country. In this episode the pair travel to Offaly to see some breeding lapwing, hear about their lives and breeding habits from ornithologist Ricky Wheelan, and discover the challenges and solutions faced by these stunning birds through a conservation project in the coast of Donegal.
