Sunshine over the Céide Fields



To mark the winter solstice Ambient Orbit will be broadcasting live from the edge of the Atlantic Ocean at the Céide Fields, Co. Mayo on December 21st, the longest night of the year. Join us at the largest Neolithic site in Ireland, from some of the most ancient field systems in the world for a tranquil mix of music, on site ambience and live musical performances from Méabh McKenna and Dan Walsh.

Méabh McKenna

Méabh McKenna's performances have evolved from traversing the eclectic worlds of classical, traditional, and early music, weaving them with contemporary, experimental and electronic elements. Drawing on years of collaborative practice, her solo improvisory project forges a soundworld that seamlessly connects the ancient with the futuristic, creating a music that is entirely her own.

Dan Walsh

FIXITY is a project formed by multi-instrumentalist and composer Dan Walsh in 2015. The project is based around the impossibility of repeated moments and manifests itself in solo and ensemble settings. To date FIXITY has presented 11 individual releases, ranging from solo-produced and numbered mini-albums, most recently FIXITY7, to full-length LPs released on Penske recordings, 'The Things In The Room' [2017] and ‘No Man Can Tell’ [2019]. Since the release of FIXITY7 in 2021 Dan has been performing with a growing pool of collaborators including The Bonk, Junior Brother, Naive Ted and Elaine Howley, as well as embarking on a solo European tour in February 2023. Currently Dan is working towards the completion of the next large-scale Fixity LP, due to be released in 2024.
