UCC Singers is the competitive sub choir of University College Cork’s Choral Society. Formed in September 2014 and conducted by Ben Jacob, UCC Singers is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. We rehearse every Wednesday performing a wide variety of music from contemporary, classics and pop to modern reimaginations of classic choral pieces. The choir aims to represent our University in national competitions this year, including our own Cork Choral Festival. More recently, we have competed in Derry International Choral Festival where we came first place in the Mixed Voice Competition singing Deus Ex Machina composed by Jakob Neske and In the Stillness composed by Sally Beamish. At this year's Cork International Choral Festival we received 2nd place in the Mixed Voice Choirs Competition, 3rd place in Ireland's Choir of the Year and 3rd place in the Church Music Competition. We were also awarded the Phillip Ní Laoghaire trophy for our performance of Incantations by Michael McGlynn.
