On Sunday, 30 November, RTÉ Documentary On One and RTÉ Drama On One will premiere their new 4-part mockumentary series, 30 Acres, written by Colm Tobin and Aidan O'Donovan.
This black comedy is set in a sprawling ghost estate - a failed housing project called 30 Acres. The series follows the lives of its three remaining inhabitants, as they go to remarkable lengths to resist eviction orders from a government-appointed liquidator, in a tale of community activism, abduction, equine fertility, and ketamine abuse.
The series stars Barbara Bergin (Intermission/On The Couch), Shane Casey (Young Offenders), John Colleary (The Savage Eye), Philippa Dunne (The Walshes, Motherland), Barry Murphy (Apres Match/Irish Pictorial Weekly) and Stefanie Preissner (The Walsh Sisters).
Written by Colm Tobin and Aidan O'Donovan, this tale of post Celtic Tiger inequality chimes with the everyday experience of the housing crisis, as the have-nots try to reclaim some ground from the haves, in a storyline as surreal as the lavish overspending in the Tiger era.
Recorded on location with an all-star cast the series will be:
- broadcast (Sundays, 8pm) on RTE Radio 1 from November 30 to December 21,
- available as podcast via the Documentary On One series feed, on December 15 and December 22,
- streamed via the Drama On One website beginning on November 28: rte.ie/dramaonone
