Seventeen Trees by Jennifer Johnston performed by Vanessa Redgrave

In 2005 the United Nations General Assembly designated January 27th the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz Birkenau as International Holocaust Memorial Day. On this annual day of commemoration, the UN urges every member state to honour the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust and millions of other victims of Nazism and to develop educational programs to help prevent future genocides

Drama On One presents a suite of programmes to commemorate International Holocaust Memorial Day beginning with a short play by Jennifer Johnston. When Vanessa Redgrave visited RTÉ Radio on November the 29th 2007 as a guest of Amnesty International, she was interviewed in public by John for An evening with Vanessa Redgrave, at around half ten that night, after the interview, a quick cup of tea and a fag, Ms. Redgrave repaired to the Drama On One studio.
