Story Notes
The contemplative life is, on the whole, a hidden life; they do not normally run parishes or lecture in universities. Their religious dress is not a familiar sight on our streets, and yet, their lives are not meant to be completely hidden. Their lives are a type of sign, a clear sign of holiness and devotion to God.
In this documentary, a series of questions were put to members of different contemplative orders, both in The Roman Catholic Church and The Church of England. The questions were designed to give us a picture of their world inside their orders and to challenge common misconceptions about the contemplative life.
What is the point of this life and how do they justify it to the outside world?
