Story Notes
Even the sunniest of Summer’s day were drab in Dartmoor prison in 1917. That’s where Sean MacAntee first met De Valera, where they were both imprisoned for their roles in the 1916 Easter Rising, when they first met in the workroom of the prison in July 1917.
They would go on to become lifelong friends and political colleagues.
In this documentary presented by John Bowman, Sean MacAntee remembers De Valera and the birth of Fianna Fail, marking the centenary of De Valera's birth.
Produced and presented by John Bowman.
First broadcast 18th November 1982.
