Story Notes
Foster care has often been described as the backbone of care in Ireland. The tradition of caring for the young and vulnerable has been inherited throughout families across Ireland for many decades. Parents across towns and villages have fostered children and teenagers for short and long term periods.
Presented by Charles Mollan. This documentary looks into the homes of families in 1982 who decide to help a child have a stable life for as little as a few nights. Throughout this documentary we hear from social workers and families about the stigma, concerns and real life issues for children and parents of care.
