
Declan McGrath
Documentary makerDeclan McGrath has recently produced and directed Mary McAleese & The Man Who Saved Europe for RTE/BBC/BAI/NI Screen (2015). It premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh (as well as being broadcast by Canal Plus in France and DR2 in Denmark) and won Best Historical Documentary in the 2015/2016 Radharc Awards. In 2016, Declan produced Léígh Linn, winner of Best App in the 2016 Celtic Media Awards. Declan is currently producing and directing Lomax in Ireland for TG4/BAI, directing Spirit of Tyrone for TG4/ILBF and directing Woman of the Oireachtas for Oireachtas TV/BAI. Declan has also directed the series Seinn Liom (2014) and What’s The Story (2013) for BBCNI. He has worked as an editor for over twenty –five years, cutting numerous award-winning dramas and documentaries. He has also taught film in Queens University Belfast and University College Dublin. Declan has written two books on the craft of cinema for Focal Press/Butterworth Heinnman (each translated into five languages) and contributes to the American film journal Cineaste.
'The Occupation' is Declan's first documentary with the Documentary on One.
