Originally from Belfast, Michael Bradley has been living with his family on the southern Japanese island of Okinawa since 2010. He teaches at Okinawa Christian Junior College and is an occasional contributor to the Japan Times. His professional life has been a mixture of teaching English as a foreign language (EFL) and journalism. From 2002 to 2010 he worked as a broadcast journalist for BBC NI, mostly at Radio Foyle in Derry and before that he was, for a short spell, a freelance reporter with the Irish Times in Belfast. He graduated from St Andrews University in Scotland with a degree in Modern History in 1988 and spent much of the following twelve years teaching EFL in various locations including the Greek island of Evia; Turin, Italy; Niigata, Japan and Reading in the south of England. He also holds a Masters degree in Applied Linguistics from Edinburgh University.
