Eoin O'Kelly
Documentary MakerEoin O Kelly is a producer with RTÉ lyric fm where, in addition to producing daily strand music programmes, he commissions and produces programmes for the weekly Lyric Feature slot which airs each Sunday at 6 pm.
He is a partially reformed indie kid and a former singer with the band The Hitchers. He studied philosophy and English at University College Cork and graduated with a Masters in Philosphy in 1997.
He first worked for RTE in the early 2000s contributing packages to arts programmes and began making full length documentaries soon after. His first documentary Philosophical Investigations on the philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein was broadcast on Lyric in 2002 and his first full length programme on Radio 1 With Love a portrait of the food writer Theodora Fitzgibbon was broadcast later in the same year.
In 2013 his programme Memory and Montmartre: Searching for Satie in the Writings of Marcel Proust was shortlisted at the Prix Europa.
He lives in Limerick with his wife and two children where his favourite thing to do is swim in the dark mutinous Shannon waves.
