David Mullen is a failed van driver but a halfway decent English teacher. He also sometimes thinks of things and writes them down.
He graduated from the Film & TV Production course at IADT Dun Laoghaire in 2013 and has lived and worked in the US and Italy.
David came to the story of Shark Island through his aunt, the actress Claire Mullan who told him about her harrowing experience on the film. He knew, from the moment she told him about it, that he had to turn it into a documentary.
He is interested in little stories about people's obsession with, and enthusiasm for, odd and off-the-wall things.
Return to Shark Island is his first radio documentary.
His hobbies include giving-out, taking pictures of bees, throwing money at rusty old cars and screaming into the void.
He currently lives as a recluse in Carlow and unfortunately hasn't given up on writing yet.
