Madge O'Callaghan grew up in Cabra West and spent most of her life in County Clare. She has been an advocate for most of her adult life - first with women who experience domestic or sexual violence and later with people with disabilities. She currently coordinates an advocacy service for young people in hospital with mental health issues. An affiliate of Amherst Writers and Artists, Madge facilitates writing workshops with New Leaf Writing - creating a safe space for people who just want to write, regardless of their level of education. She has 3 adult children, three grandchildren and two great grandsons. She lives in West Wicklow.
