Fergal is an award winning journalist. He worked as a producer for ABC News in New York for 7 years covering breaking news stories including mass shootings, hurricanes, U.S. politics and the coronavirus pandemic. Fergal established ABC's Visual Verification unit which vetted and verified all images and videos from social media to be used on the network's various shows and platforms. He also reported on the growth of misinformation online and it's influence on politics. He was wom an Emmy for coverage of Hurricane Michael in 2018 and in 2021 was a senior producer for the Emmy Nominated '24 Hours: Assault on the Capitol'. He returned to live in Ireland in 2021.
Prior to ABC Fergal was a freelance journalist and contributed to a number of tech publications as well as the Irish Independent.
Fergal has a B.A. in Computer Science from Trinity College Dublin and an M.A. in Journalism from Independent Colleges Dublin.
