Chris Nikkel is a television documentary producer, director and writer. He's made programmes both in Ireland and abroad, for broadcasters that include the BBC, RTE, Discovery and Smithsonian Channels.
Though he has a special interest in history and science, his documentaries have covered a wide-range of topics—from a rare disease called Gigantism and its unusual prevalence in Ireland, to a little known Italian landslide disaster in the Dolomite Mountains; an examination of Vincent Van Gogh’s legacy on film, to the untold stories behind some of Ireland’s most famous archaeological treasures.
Chris is originally from Winnipeg, Canada, but has lived in Ireland for nearly two decades. In 2016 he and his wife bought a traditional cottage in the Cooley Mountains of North County Louth, where they discovered the connection between their new home and the world-renowned Psychiatrist, Elisabeth Kübler-Ross.
