A Status Yellow wind warning is now in place for Donegal, Galway and Mayo.

Met Éireann says the three counties will face strong to gale force south to southwest winds today into tomorrow morning, with gusts of 90 to 110kmh expected.

The warning came into effect at 6am this morning and will expire at 10am tomorrow morning.

The nationwide forecast, according to Met Éireann, calls for windy, mild and generally cloudy conditions this evening.

It will remain dry for many, with patchy rain or drizzle, mainly in the west and south.

More persistent rain will develop in western and northwestern counties through the evening. South to southwest winds will remain strong and gusty, with gales along coasts.

Tomorrow will be a cloudy day, with scattered outbreaks of rain, most persistent over the western half of the country with longer dry spells further east.

Windy through the morning, with strong southerly winds, easing moderate to fresh through the afternoon.
