A Status Yellow rainfall warning is in place for Donegal, Galway, Mayo, Clare, Cork and Kerry.

Heavy rain and spot flooding is possible with accumulations of between 20mm and 40mm forecast, and potentially higher amounts in mountainous areas.

The warning for Clare, Cork and Kerry is in place until 12pm tomorrow.

The warning for Donegal, Galway and Mayo is valid until 1pm tomorrow.

Motorists have been advised to be aware of poor visibility and driving conditions.

Met Éireann said heavy and persistent rain in the northwest will slowly spread southeast today.
