Met Éireann has issued a status yellow snow-ice warning for Ireland.

Scattered sleet and snow showers are forecast and will be most frequent across Ulster and Connacht.

Met Éireann said that some showers would affect central and eastern areas at times, with the odd flurry further south.

The forecaster warned that icy and slippery conditions were expected due to accumulation of ice and snow on untreated surfaces.

Accumulations of 1-2cm are expected.

The warning came into effect at 11pm and will remain in operation until 11am on Tuesday.
