Met Éireann has issued an Orange weather warning as Storm Georgina is due to track to the northwest of the country.

Winds of up to 80km/h and gusts of up to 120km/h are forecast overnight.

The warning will be in place from midnight until 5am.

A Status Yellow wind warning is in place in the west and northwestern counties and along the southeast coast with gusts of up 110km/h likely. 

The warning comes into force at 9pm and will remain in place until 9am tomorrow.

A Status Yellow rainfall warning, with up to 35mm of rain expected, is in place for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo and Clare from 10pm until 10am tomorrow.
