A woman in her 60s who was arrested in relation to the murder of a man in Co Donegal nearly 20 years ago has been released without charge.

Gardaí have said a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions following the woman's release.

Andrew Burns, 27, was murdered at Donnyloop in Castlefin on 12 February 2008.

He received a number of gunshot wounds and was later found on a road close to Donnyloop Church. He was pronounced dead shortly before 8pm.

One person has been convicted of Mr Burns’ murder and is serving a life sentence, but gardaí have previously said they believe that a number of people were involved.

Gardaí continue to appeal to anyone with any information to come forward, in particular, the occupant or occupants of a red van that it is believed to have been in the Donnyloop area at around 7pm on the evening Mr Burns was murdered.
