Revenue officers have seized illegal cigarettes worth an estimated €6.8 million at Dublin Port.

They were discovered in a container that had arrived from Zeebrugge on 3 April.

The contents were declared as truck parts.

Revenue says the 7.2 million cigarettes, which were branded 'Lambert & Butler', represent a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €5.3m.

They say their investigation into the seizure is ongoing.
