An angler who was reported missing on Lough Corrib yesterday, has been found.

A multi agency effort was launched yesterday evening, after the alarm was raised, when the man did not return from a fishing expedition.

Volunteers from Corrib/Mask Search and Rescue, as well as Coast Guard Units from Cleggan and Cuan Chasla, along with rescue helicopters from Shannon and Sligo, were all involved.

Bad weather conditions and poor visibility hampered the search last night, which was due to resume this morning at first light.

A spokesperson for the Department of Transport said that before the planned resumption of the operation this morning, search teams were made aware that the angler had been located.

He is said to be safe and well following his ordeal.
