Man in critical condition after hit-and-run incident in Co Kerry

A man is in a critical condition after being struck by a car which failed to remain at the scene in Co Kerry last night.

The man, aged in his 30s, was walking in the Tubrid More area of Ardfert in north Kerry when the incident happened at around 9.20pm.

He was taken to University Hospital Kerry where he remains in a critical condition.

Gardaí say the driver of the car left the scene before they arrived.

The road has fully reopened to traffic following an examination.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone with information regarding this incident to contact them.

Any road users who were travelling between Ardfert village, Tubrid More, Doon North, Lislosse, R556 Tralee /Abbeydorney Road and the main road between Abbeydorney and Ardfert between 7.30pm and 9.30pm last night, who witnessed anything or may have camera footage, including dash-cam, are asked to contact gardaí.
