Technology manufacturer Vertiv has announced plans to create 200 jobs in the north west over the next six months, with numbers expected to rise to several hundred as global demand for its products continue to grow.
The company intends to carry out a significant expansion of its electrical switchgear operation across its three manufacturing facilities in Campsie in Derry and Burnfoot and Letterkenny in Donegal.
The new positions will support the production of electrical switchgear - components used in data centres, communication networks, and industrial applications.
Approximately 60% of the new roles will be created in Derry and the remaining 40% in Donegal.
The company said demand for its power systems continues to rise, driven in part by the rapid adoption of AI technology.
The recruitment drive will cover manufacturing, engineering, quality assurance, and support roles.
The company said they will be seeking electricians, panel wirers, mechanical fitters, and general operators.
President of Vertiv in Europe, the Middle East and Africa Paul Ryan described the announcement as a vote of confidence in the regional workforce and economy.
"The expansion of the facilities and creation of these roles in Derry and county Donegal will increase our manufacturing capacity and enable us to deliver critical digital infrastructure at scale and speed," he said.
The Ohio-headquartered company operates in more than 130 countries and the new roles will bring the company's Irish workforce to well over 2,000 employees.
Vertiv supplies power, cooling and IT infrastructure solutions and services to data centres and communications networks.
