Woman, 23, who died in Belfast road crash is named

A woman who died after a collision between a bus and a car in Belfast, Co Antrim on Saturday has been named as 23-year-old Claudia Jaczyk.

The incident happened at around 8am on the Ballyrobin Road to Belfast International Airport.

Ms Jaczyk, the driver of a black Citroen C1, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the bus, a man in his sixties, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Diversions which were in place have since been lifted and the road reopened.

The PSNI has appealed for witnesses to come forward.

"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have digital footage which could assist with the police investigation, is asked to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 341 of 14/02/26," it said.

SDLP South Antrim Councillor Roisin Lynch has described the death of the woman as another heart-breaking tragedy.

Cllr Lynch said: "My thoughts are with the family and friends of this young woman. Losing a loved one is never easy, but the loss of another young life on the North's roads is devastating.

"My thoughts are also with the driver of the bus involved in the accident and I hope he makes a full recovery."
