Hospitals in the Midlands are all seeing increasing numbers of people requiring admission at this time, according to the Health Service Executive.

The HSE asked that, where possible, patients with non-emergency conditions seek assistance from other parts of the health service such as their local pharmacist, GP, GP out of hours service, or a local injury unit.

The hospitals are the Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore, the Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise and the Regional Hospital Mullingar.

In a statement, the HSE Midlands Integrated Healthcare Area said all hospitals have opened additional beds to cope with the extra demand on capacity and resources.
