Man arrested over Offaly deaths released without charge

A man in his 20s who was arrested yesterday on suspicion of murder in connection with the deaths of a four-year-old boy and his grandaunt in Co Offaly last month has been released without charge.

Tadgh Farrell and 60-year-old Mary Holt died in a fire at a house in Castleview Park in Edenderry, when a suspected petrol bomb was thrown through the front window on 6 December.

Yesterday's arrest marked the first arrest as part of the double murder investigation.

A file will be prepared for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, gardaí confirmed.
