Four people have been arrested after the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) discovered a "cannabis factory" in a property in Co Derry.

Three men, aged 37, 39 and 60, and one woman, aged 52, were arrested on suspicion of drug related offences and are currently in custody, the PSNI said.

The PSNI's district support team officers assisted by the neighbourhood policing team made the arrests following the planned search of a property in the Waterside area of the city today.

The police service has not disclosed the value of the cannabis seized during the search.

PSNI Inspector Simon Gurney said: "Cannabis factories such as this one often have links to serious criminality. By dismantling this extensive factory, we have helped to stop unlawful activity in its tracks."

Police said they will continue to work tirelessly to search for and seize drugs

Insp Gurney said the PSNI will continue to work tirelessly to search for and seize drugs, investigate and arrest those involved in drug supply, and "remove drugs from our streets".

"Support from the public is crucial and, with your help, we can focus our efforts on identifying those who make their living and cause so much misery and harm by bringing drugs to our streets and neighbourhoods," Insp Gurney said.

He added: "Together we can help protect those you care about."
