Two people have been taken to hospital following a suspected gas explosion at a house in east Belfast.

Police said emergency services were called to a house on the Lower Braniel Road this afternoon.

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) said it transported two patients to the Royal Victoria Hospital.

A NIAS spokesperson said a 999 call was received at 12.33pm, and two emergency ambulances were despatched.

The Air Ambulance was also tasked to the scene.

"Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, two patients were taken to Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast by ambulance," it said.
