A man in his 60s has died after he became unwell following a two-car collision in Co Westmeath.

Gardaí responded to the two-car collision on the Royal Canal Way at Cushinstown, Killucan, shortly before 2.15pm, yesterday.

Following the incident, one of the drivers involved became unwell and was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

None of the other occupants required treatment.

The scene has been examined, and the local coroner has been notified.

A post-mortem examination is to be arranged.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
