Two people have died in separate residential fires in Belfast, Co Antrim and Bangor, Co Down.

A man in his 20s died in a fire at a property in the Queen Victoria Gardens area of north Belfast.

Emergency services were alerted to the fire at about 11am this morning.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second fire occurred in the Abbey Park area of Bangor at around 12.30pm.

A woman aged in her 50s was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigations into both fires have commenced, the Police Service of Northern Ireland has said.

However, neither death is believed to be suspicious at this stage.
