Met Éireann has issued a Yellow rain warning for Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Cork, Kerry, Tipperary, Waterford from tomorrow night until Tuesday morning.
Heavy rain falling on already saturated ground will have possible impacts such as localised flooding and leading to difficult travel conditions, with outdoor events impacted, the forecaster said.
On Tuesday the entire country is under a Yellow wind warning, with Met Éireann forecasting very strong and gusty southerly winds with gales possible near coasts.
It also said that there is an increased flood risk in coastal areas due to coincidence with very high spring tides.
The weather may lead to difficult travel conditions, flooding of low-lying coastal areas with wave overtopping, debris and loose objects displaced and outdoor events impacted.
The warning is in place from 3am until 9pm on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the UK Met Office has a Yellow rain warning in place today for Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone, Derry.
Heavy rain may lead to some disruption today. The warning was issued at 8am and is in effect until 3pm today
