Objects believed to be rhinoceros horns were seized during a search operation in Rathkeale yesterday, according to gardaí investigating serious criminality in the Co Limerick town.

Gardaí have confirmed that the horns were among a number of items seized during raids at 11 locations in Rathkeale on Tuesday.

They said the horns are subject to undergo examination by experts.

Designer bags, watches and around €400,000 in multiple bank accounts and in cash were also seized.

A woman who was arrested and questioned as part of the probe has been released without charge and a file will be sent to the DPP.

The search operation was part of an investigation into money laundering.

Superintendent Michael Fleming said the ongoing investigation is targeting "the activities of a number of individuals who are involved in serious criminality on a transnational basis".
