A restored railway goods crane which is more than 160 years old has been unveiled at Kilmeaden, Co Waterford.
The Waterford & Suir Valley Railway, a charity which operates track along the River Suir, received funding from the Heritage Council to bring the two-tonne crane back to life.
It is understood it was originally installed in Ferns Station by the Dublin, Wicklow & Wexford Railway Company around the time of the station's opening in 1863.
It is an example of a technology once common place along canals and railways.
Alan Moore, one of the WSVR volunteers involved with the project, said: "This is a valuable piece of industrial heritage. This 160-year-old crane is once again fully operational and should survive for decades to come."
