Woman, 40s, in critical condition after crash in Co Sligo

A woman is in critical condition in Sligo University Hospital following a road traffic collision between two cars near Easkey, Co Sligo last night.

The collision between two cars happened at about 10.15pm on the R297 in the townland of Kileenduff in west Sligo.

The drivers of both cars, a woman and a man, aged in their 40s, were taken to Sligo University Hospital.

The woman's condition is described as critical, and the man is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The road is closed for a technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place. Investigations are ongoing.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to come forward.

Road users who may have camera footage and were travelling on the R297 at Kileenduff, Easkey, between 9.45pm and 10.30pm are asked to make it available.

Gardaí have also said anyone with information should contact Ballymote Garda Station, the Garda Confidential Line or any garda station.
