A 38-year-old man from Buncrana has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of another man following a hit-and-run road traffic incident in Clonmany, Co Donegal, last year.
Kevin Grant of Parkmore, Buncrana, came before Letterkenny Circuit Criminal Court this afternoon on a signed guilty plea, and he confirmed his plea before Judge John Aylmer.
The 38-year-old is charged with the unlawful killing of 66-year-old father of four James Devine on Clonmany Main Street on 12 May 2024.
Mr Grant is also charged with three other offences contrary to Section 106 of the Road Traffic Act 2014, including failing to stop, failing to keep the vehicle at the scene and failing to report the incident.
Mr Devine of Drumucklagh, Raphoe, was initially taken to Letterkenny University Hospital and was later transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, where he passed away on 15 May 2024.
Judge Aylmer sought a probation report. He adjourned the matter until the next sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Criminal Court in February 2026.
