An investigation is under way following an assault in Co Cork.
It happened in Mitchelstown at around midnight.
Gardaí say the incident took place in a private residence.
A man in his 40s was taken to Cork University Hospital following the incident.
His injuries are described as non-life-threatening.
Gardaí say a man in his 40s was arrested and he is being held at a Garda Station in Co Cork.
