A man who died violently on a street in Youghal last April suffered haemorrhage and shock associated with stab wounds to the abdomen, Cork Coroner's Court heard this morning.
Daniel O'Sullivan, 32, died after he was fatally stabbed on North Main Street in the town on the evening of 14 April.
Mr O'Sullivan was originally from Mallow, but lived in Youghal at the time.
Assistant State Pathologist Dr Margot Bolster told coroner Philip Comyn that Mr O'Sullivan's cause of death was haemorrhage and shock, associated with stab wounds to the abdomen, complicated by hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy.
Sergeant Fergus Twomey applied for an adjournment to allow criminal proceedings to proceed.
Mr Comyn adjourned the inquest 'sine die' (without a day).
