Twenty-six barristers became senior counsel in ceremonies held at the Supreme Court over the last two days.
The call to the Inner Bar, referred to as Taking Silk, marks the transition from junior to senior counsel.
The newly-appointed senior barristers come from all across the country with experience in both criminal and civil law. The Bar of Ireland said their appointment underscored the "continued importance of advocacy in protecting the rule of law, advancing access to justice and serving the public interest".
Chair of the Council of the Bar of Ireland Seán Guerin said their achievement was a public testament to their abilities in the provision of advocacy and legal advice of the very highest standard.
