A woman in her 80s has died following a two-car collision in Co Cavan.
The collision occurred on a local road in Carrickatober near Crosskeys at 3.30pm.
One of the drivers, a woman in her 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her body was removed to Cavan General Hospital where a post-mortem examination is due to take place.
The other driver, a woman in her 40s, was brought to Cavan General Hospital for assessment.
The road was closed for a technical examination, but has since reopened.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, particularly any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 3.00pm and 3.30pm to contact Cavan Garda Station on 049 436 8800, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
