Pedestrian dies after being struck by vehicle in Belfast

A male pedestrian has been killed after being struck by a vehicle in Co Antrim.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland confirmed that a man has died following a road traffic incident in east Belfast.

Inspector Cherith Adair of the PSNI's Collision Investigation Unit stated: "Just after 11pm, we received a report of a pedestrian having been struck by a vehicle in the Ballygowan Road area."

Insp Adair said police attended the scene alongside emergency service partners, "however the man was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene".

The PSNI said enquiries are continuing.

It is appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have dashcam footage to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 1605 of 27/09/25.

The Ballygowan Road which was closed overnight has since reopened, the PSNI added.
