Large fire overnight at south Dublin recycling plant

Members of Dublin Fire Brigade were called to a large fire at a recycling plant at the Park West Industrial Estate last night.

The blaze at its height required eight fire engines to assist operations, while four fire engines remain at the scene.

A spokesperson for Dublin Fire Brigade said that firefighters will continue to work on the scene throughout the day to dampen down hotspots.

Gardaí said that local traffic diversions are in place.

Due to these ongoing operations, an assessment into the cause of the fire has not yet taken place.

The alarm was raised shortly before 11pm and firefighters worked late into the night to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.

No injuries were reported, gardaí said.

Dublin Fire Brigade were assisted by An Garda Síochána, the ESB and Uisce Éireann overnight.
