Man, 40s, dies in incident involving truck in Cork

A man in his 40s has died in Ballycotton in Co Cork after an incident involving a dumper truck.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene at Church Road in the town this afternoon.

The alarm was raised at 3.30pm.

The man was driving the vehicle when the incident took place. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body is set to be removed to Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.

Garda forensic collision investigators are due to attend at the scene.

The L3633 road is closed to traffic and local diversions have been put in place.

The Health and Safety Authority said it is aware of the fatal incident and has launched an investigation.

A full investigation will be carried out.

The coroner has been made aware of the fatality and an inquest will be held in due course.
