A man has appeared in court in Co Meath charged in connection with a fatal hit and run incident last week which led to the death of a man his 80s.
He was taken to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown, where he was subsequently pronounced dead.
The collision took place on the R156 near Boardsmill National School in the townland of Batterstown at around 9.50am last Friday morning.
The driver of the vehicle involved failed to remain at the scene.
Piotr Brionarcyzk, 42, with an address in Poland appeared before Judge Erin McKiernan at Trim District Court this morning.
Sargeant Eoin Tracey told the court he arrested the accused at Ashbourne Garda Station at 9.38pm yesterday and charged him with three offences at 10.30am.

The charges were failure to remain at the scene of a collision, failure to offer assistance and failure to report the incident.
He said the accused made no reply when the charges were put to him through an interpreter.
A Polish interpreter was present in court.
Sgt Treacy told Judge McKiernan that the accused man had travelled from Poland to meet them by appointment at Dublin Airport after they had contacted him about the incident.
He works for a courier company based in Poland, and his work rotation is five days in Ireland with 10 days in Poland.
Gardaí said they would consent to bail despite the fact that Mr Brionarcyzk has no ties to the jurisdiction on condition of an independent surety of €10,000 in cash and his own bond of €200.
His solicitor Niall Walsh said the money would be produced by his wife and is a significant sum of money for the family.
He also said that his client would reside at an address in Tallaght.
