A man in his 40s has been arrested in connection with the death of a cyclist in a hit-and-run incident near Ballivor, Co Meath last week.
The collision took place on the R156 near Boardsmill National School in the townland of Batterstown at around 9.50am last Friday morning.
He was taken to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown, where he was subsequently pronounced dead.
The driver of the vehicle involved failed to remain at the scene.
The man arrested as part of the investigation is currently being detained at a garda station in the east of the country.
He can be detained for up to 24 hours and gardaí have also said that a vehicle has been recovered.
Gardaí continue to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them.
They are particularly interested in the movements of any heavy goods vehicles in the area between 9.30am and 10am last Friday morning.
Gardaí have also asked that any road users who may camera footage, including dash-cam, to make it available to them.
