Three further arrests over 2010 murder of Lee Slattery in Limerick

Three people were arrested today in connection with the investigation into the murder of 24-year-old Lee Slattery, whose body was found in a shallow grave in Limerick in 2010.

Two men and a woman in their 30s were arrested this afternoon, gardaí said.

One man was arrested under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, a second man was re-arrested under Section 51 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007 while a woman is detained under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939.

They are all being held at garda stations in the southern region.

Meanwhile, a woman in her 50s who was arrested yesterday in connection with the investigation has been released without charge.

A file will be prepared for the office of the director of public prosecutions.

There are currently five people in custody in relation to the investigation.

A man and a woman, both aged in their 30s, were also arrested yesterday afternoon.

Mr Slattery's body was discovered in Delmege House estate, near Moyross, in May 2010.

The 24-year-old had not been seen for four days after he visited a friend's house in the city on the night of 27 May 2010.

A post-mortem examination established that Mr Slattery had been shot a number of times before being buried.

To date, 31 arrests have been made in connection with the investigation.
