Two further arrests over 2010 murder of Lee Slattery in Limerick

Two more people have been arrested in connection with the investigation into the murder of 24-year-old Lee Slattery, whose body was found in a shallow grave in Limerick in 2010.

A man and a woman in their 30s were arrested this afternoon, gardaí said.

The man was re-arrested under Section 51 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007 while the woman is detained under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939.

They are both being held at garda stations in the southern region.

There are currently five people in custody in relation to the investigation.

A woman, aged in her 50s, and a man and a woman, both aged in their 30s, were arrested yesterday afternoon.

Mr Slattery's body was discovered in Delmege House estate, near Moyross, in May 2010.

The 24-year-old had not been seen for four days after he visited a friend's house in the city on the night of 27 May 2010.

A post-mortem examination established that Mr Slattery had been shot a number of times before being buried.

To date, 30 arrests have been made in connection with the investigation.
