Tributes have been paid to the cyclist who died following a hit-and-run incident near Ballivor, Co Meath on Friday.
The collision took place on the R156 near Boardsmill National School in the townland of Batterstown at around 9.50am on Friday morning.
Ned McLoughlin, who was aged in his 80s and lived close to where the collision occurred, was found unresponsive following the incident.
He was taken to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown, where he was subsequently pronounced dead.
The driver of the vehicle involved failed to remain at the scene.
Gardaí have been carrying out door-to-door inquiries in the area over the weekend and are understood to be reviewing CCTV footage.
In a post on Facebook, Na Fianna Athletic Club paid tribute to their former club member.
The post reads: "Ned was a member of our club for many years.
"He competed as part of our men's senior team at county, provincial and national cross country events throughout the 1970s and 1980s.
"Ned is remembered by his good friends and training buddies."

Gardaí continue to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them.
They are particularly interested in the movements of any heavy goods vehicles in the area between 9.30am and 10am on Friday morning.
Gardaí have also asked that any road users who may camera footage, including dash-cam, to make it available to them.
