A man has been arrested on suspicion of possessing and making explosives after a security alert in Belfast.

Police were searching a property at Bentham Drive, off Sandy Row in the city yesterday when they found several suspicious objects.

Army bomb disposal experts were called in and the area was sealed off.

The devices were inspected and determined to be viable.

One man was arrested and remains in police custody.

People who had been asked to leave their homes during the security alert have now been allowed to return.
